Every time I go to the library, I need to check out at least one book that will challenge my reading abilities, vocabulary, and attention span, but I never get past the first 50 pages or so. Then I feel bad about not reading "grown-up" books, so I punish myself by not reading any of the other novels I checked out. Rinse, and repeat.
Some of the books I've recently given up trying to read:
- The Picture of Dorian Gray
- Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl
- A Wrinkle in Time
- The Count of Monte Cristo
- and right now I'm fighting as hard as I can through Love in the Time of Cholera.
I'm tired of feeling guilty for only reading lighter fiction. So I'm taking the first step and admitting that I LIKE YOUNG ADULT FICTION, HISTORICAL FICTION, AND FLUFFY MYSTERIES.
Go ahead, judge me. And maybe give me some good recommendations while you're at it.
